Books

Our teaching and research inspired us to write  Rituals for Work in 2019 (Wiley), and Rituals For Virtual Meetings in 2021 (Wiley).

In our books, we aim to bring a designerly approach to crafting workplace culture. We follow three distinct lenses:

The first lens is systems thinking where we map culture as a landscape of human motivations and situations.  In our first book, for instance, we identified 5 areas of motivation in work life that intentional interventions could make a difference.

The second lens is visual thinking. Wherever possible, we visualize problems, as well as solutions in tangible ways. Once something is tangible, it’s easier to grasp and act on.

The third lens is experiential experimentation. Workplace culture is shaped by the interplay between beliefs, behaviors, and emotions. To capture these three dimensions, we devise improvisational techniques and theatrical constructs.
