The Fail Cheese Ritual

We realize there could be a whole branch of Failure Rituals — ways that people and organizations admit a failure, and then do the ritual to process through it, make it lighter, and feel connected as a group.

In this case, from an LA tech startup, there’s a Can of Spray Cheese that goes to whomever has the latest, greatest failure in the company. Whether it’s making mistakes in code, forgetting a password, brewing coffee poorly — that person owns up to the mistake and takes the Spray Cheese as a badge of honorable failure on their desk.

Until the next failure, then the Spray Cheese moves to that person.
